On behalf of ASPRS Cascadia Region and Oregon URISA, we are happy to welcome you to the 30th annual GIS in Action conference!

The GIS in Action conference features 7 tracks and nearly 50 presentations from local and national professionals to inspire dialog and enhance your knowledge with real world applications of geospatial technology. The conference provides a very economical way for all of us to improve our technical skills and learn about the latest software enhancements.

The conference is also a great way to connect with our peers and share successes and opportunities that we can carry back to improve our organizations. We are fortunate to have a strong professional community in Oregon and Washington, and please use this conference to share, reconnect, and make new friends!
Finally, we would like to thank the GIS in Action committee for developing a great conference agenda, Portland State University for hosting, and our sponsors for supporting us.

11:05ma | Disseminating and Visualizing UAS Data Using Survey123, Portal for ArcGIS, and Web AppBuilder | Benjamin Protzman & David Mangold
Clean Water Services, a special service district for water resource recovery in Washington County, Oregon, has spent the past seven years developing its Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) program. In that time, the program has grown from a single UAS to four platforms, and the District has built out a data collection, processing, and dissemination pipeline. Clean Water Services uses drones on dozens of projects ranging from infrastructure assessments to herbicide application monitoring in natural areas. The program is especially successful at visualizing and disseminating aerial imagery products for project managers and other agency staff. Join Clean Water Services to learn how the agency leveraged Esri’s Survey123, Portal for ArcGIS, and Web AppBuilder to support their UAS program and deliver an easy-to-use mapping solution for users to seamlessly view photos, videos, and imagery layers in one convenient location.

11:25am | UAS for Environmental Site Assessment and Riverbank Cleanup | Erik Strandhagen
Mr. Strandhagen’s presentation covers Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) technology and it’s application for environmental site assessment. The presentation contains an example of UAS for upland and riverbank remedy planning at the Former Pope and Talbot wood-treating site located in Saint Helens, Oregon. The presentation also includes an example of UAS as a reconnaissance tool to support a sediment sampling plan along drainage ways between an industrial site on the Santiam River.
